Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency (BPJPH) of the Religious Affairs Ministry is exploring synergy on Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) with state-run postal service, PT Pos Indonesia.

"We work together to realize the implementation of halal certification obligations for goods and services, especially on food and beverages that must be halal certified on October 17, 2024," head of BPJPH, Muhammad Aqil Irham, stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Irham, the role of PT Pos, as a company operating in the field of logistics services related to food, beverage, and other products, is important in the supply chain of the halal product ecosystem in Indonesia.

Hence, fulfilling JPH standards in PT Pos is necessary in order to prepare for the halal certification obligation in October, Irham explained.

"Ahead of the halal certification obligation in October, BPJPH continues to encourage various business sectors related to food; beverages; slaughtering services and slaughtered products; raw materials; food additives; and auxiliary materials for food and beverage products to immediately seek halal certification," he reminded.

Irham noted that halal certification services are not merely a form of compliance with the JPH regulations but also an effort to expand and increase business value as well as fulfill the clients' needs in a more professional and guaranteed manner.

Irham then lauded PT Pos for facilitating halal certification for small and medium enterprises (MSEs) through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pos Indonesia, Faizal Rochmat Djoemadi, welcomed this synergy with BPJPH. He expressed hope that both parties would immediately follow up on the meeting by discussing the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Djoemadi remarked that his side agrees with the halal certification program run by BPJPH since it is part of the business development efforts to fulfill the community's needs.

He emphasized that a mandatory halal certification program should be supported by all parties.

"We support this program by providing facilitation for halal certification financing for SMEs," he remarked.
