Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Mira Tayyiba stated that Indonesia's win as a general champion at the 2024 ASEAN Digital Awards (ADA) demonstrated the success of the ministry's digital startup programs.

Indonesia won a total of five awards in the 2024 ADA. The awards presentation took place during the Gala Dinner of the 4th ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN) in Singapore on Thursday (February 1).

"This has signified that the digital startup programs initiated by the ministry run quite effectively," Tayyiba noted in a ministry press release received here on Saturday,

She stated that digital programs developed by the ministry's Directorate General of Informatics Application have several layers that can facilitate national digital startup development.

With the presence of those programs, increasingly more number of young people have begun showing interest in developing startup companies and presenting solutions in various sectors.

She noted that apart from presenting solutions in the technology and information sectors, those programs also encourage startups to develop businesses in other sectors. She cited as an example the Indonesian teams that had won in the 2024 ADA.

"Those winners are not conventional businesses, like e-commerce and fintech, but have entered more basic things, like agriculture and maritime," she remarked.

At the 2024 ADA, Indonesia won five awards, comprising two gold, one silver, and two bronze, in the digital startup and private sector categories.

Gold awards were won by the Crustea team and Shieldtag team, the silver award was bagged by the Artopologi team, and bronze awards were secured by the Jaramba team and Incrane team.

The 2024 ADA, earlier known as the ASEAN ICT Awards, is aimed at promoting innovation and collaboration between governments, businesses, and institutions.

There are six categories in ADA, namely public sector, private sector, digital content, digital startup, digital innovation, and digital inclusivity. (INE)
