This, according to him, has been pursued in several sectors, such as communication, health, and agriculture.
"We have adopted several foundation models; we even participated in developing them, for instance, Generative AI for Natural Language Processing by several start-ups and data processing by utilizing AI in marketing," he said in a press release issued by his ministry on Monday.
He made the statement after attending the Planning Contributions and Important Stakeholders to Include Workshop, which was organized as part of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI at Brdo Congress Center, Slovenia, on Sunday (February 4, 2024) local time.
According to Patria, globally, there are two approaches to regulating the utilization of AI technology adopted by developed countries, namely the horizontal approach and the vertical approach.
"There are those who try horizontal (approach) where it is oriented toward the principles of AI development adopted by the European Union countries. There are also those who (adopt) a vertical approach that is direct to the sectors, like what is done by the US and China," he explained.
The deputy minister assured that the Indonesian government will always support the development of AI in Indonesia.
Especially for essential sectors like the economy, education, and health, the development of AI must be increased, given that it will become a reference in the future, he said.
"In this regard, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics fully supports AI development efforts that have been made by start-up companies and also a number of tech companies, both national and global, that are operating in Indonesia," he added.
