Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that criticism from academics of several universities in the country was part of the political dynamics that the government had to heed to ahead of the 2024 elections.

"The government must pay attention to any political dynamics by providing assurance and taking the next steps," Amin stated as quoted in an official statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat received here on Tuesday.

The vice president expressed hope that calls from the academic community regarding democracy in Indonesia ahead of the elections will become part of a positive dynamic process that will not affect the Indonesian people.

Several academics from the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) alumni, the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) academic community, and various other campuses had earlier submitted a petition against the Jokowi government. They criticized issues of ethics and statesmanship in the petition.
