Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, on Monday (February 5), met with Foreign Affairs Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss workable measures for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

According to a press release received from the Vice Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Tuesday, the meeting was held in Abu Dhabi as part of VP Amin's agendas during his working visit to the gulf state.

"Bilateral relations between the countries go beyond formal political ties, as we are two brotherly nations. The two countries can be seen as siblings," the vice president remarked.

During the meeting, Amin gladly welcomed the opportunities to further solidify harmonious bilateral bonds fostered by Indonesia and the UAE.

Minister Al Nahyan, for his part, noted that the two countries can identify ways to strengthen and sustain their mutually beneficial ties.

"Even though the two countries have been enjoying a very sound level of relations, I believe we can still find ways to further augment our bonds in the future," he told VP Amin.

The minister then urged VP Amin to extend his greetings to President Widodo and the Indonesian nation while expressing hope that Indonesia and the UAE would continue to maintain their sound relations for the sake of sustainable mutual benefits.

Earlier, VP Amin attended the presentation of the 2024 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening.
