Do not mess around, there is not much time.
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, stated on Wednesday that he does not want to become a minister again if offered by the elected president in the 2024 General Elections.

He says that he does not have the blessing of his wife to accept a ministerial position if it is offered later.

However, he added that he is still willing to advise the future leader.

"No, it is enough for me to become a minister. My wife disagrees with me being a minister again, but I can only give advice," he said.

Earlier, in a video uploaded to his Instagram account, Luhut expressed his support for presidential and vice-presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

After casting his vote at Polling Station 14 in Badung, Bali, he expressed belief that the candidate pair would win the elections in a single round.

"We have seen the surveys. I think they can win in a single round," he said, adding that he believes their proposed work programs will continue the achievements of the current government under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

"Because I want sustainability. If it is not sustainable, our economy will be like a 'yoyo.' Our demographic bonus will end in the 2030s, so we have to be well aware of this; do not mess around, there is not much time," he said.

He said that many achievements have been made during Jokowi's leadership, although there are still several unfinished programs due to the president's limited term.

He also said that he wants the new president to have a vision like Jokowi's.

"The sustainability carried by Mr. Jokowi needs perfection. It cannot be done by one president alone, but it will require two or three presidents to achieve it," Luhut concluded.
