Assistant Police Chief for Human Resources Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo noted in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday that 226 participants had passed the initial stage of the SIPSS selection, three of whom were disabled people.
"Of the three participants, who took the test at this center, there are still two left," Prasetyo remarked.
The two-star police general highlighted that the two people with disabilities had undergraduate medical education and undergraduate education with competence in the field of technology and information.
The two participants with disabilities obtained good test results until the final stage, not inferior to regular participants.
The assignment that will be given to personnel with disabilities is that one person will serve as a doctor while another individual will function as an operator in the field of information technology.
"The work is more for staff, staffing, and operator groups," Prasetyo stated.
Former head of the National Police Public Relations Division remarked that all participants who cleared the final stage of receiving the National Police SIPSS, including persons with disabilities, would begin receiving education on March 5, 2024.
"At this stage, students with disabilities and regulars are treated equally," Prasetyo explained.
The acceptance of POLRI personnel from disability groups is a program of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who made an inclusive policy by opening SIPSS recruitment for people with disabilities.
The selection process and educational activities for people with disabilities are carried out alongside ordinary pupils.
Prasetyo noted that the National Police will also open opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the selection of education for the formation of non-commissioned officers starting this year.
"SSDM of the National Police intensifies the dissemination of (information on) the announcement of the opening of the recruitment of non-commissioned officers to disability groups," he remarked.
In 2023, the National Police has received one female police officer with disability and a three-year diploma graduate of company management who served as an archivist at the South Sumatra Regional Police.
