"Even though ANTARA is owned by the government, we prioritize nationalism politics," Munir said at the ANTARA Business Forum 2024 here on Tuesday.
According to him, nationalist politics allows ANTARA to answer the challenges of the times and stand neutral amid the competing interests of various parties, especially when the country is in a political year or leadership change period.
One of the events that demonstrated ANTARA's neutrality was the 2024 General Election, Munir said.
ANTARA remained independent, not leaning toward any political party, he added.
"We do not accept cooperation or advertising from political parties. During the election, we only cooperate with election organizers, namely the General Elections Commission (KPU), the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP)," he informed.
He emphasized that ANTARA's stand on independence and journalist ethics will help strengthen public trust in the media.
He added that ANTARA has always helped maintain the public's trust in the media. The media company, which was founded on December 13, 1937, strives to deliver journalism products that are accurate and factual.
ANTARA reaches 38 provinces through its 32 regional bureaus and overseas bureaus, Munir said.
It has 550 text, video, and photo journalists, who churn out eight hundred to one thousand news stories per day.
"We also have about 500 media subscribers. We present accurate and balanced information to the public," he added.
The ANTARA Business Forum, themed "Economic and Commodity Prospects in the 2024 Transition Period," was opened by ANTARA's director of commercial, business development, and information technology, Jaka Sugiyanta.
