Jakarta (ANTARA) - The process of registration and issuance of certificates for waqf lands is facilitated by the government with no fees required, Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR) Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated.

"We serve the certification of waqf land completely free of charge. Therefore, people should not hesitate to apply for certification at local agrarian offices if they have uncertified waqf lands," he noted in a statement received from his office here on Saturday.

AHY made the statement during the handover of waqf land certificates to land owners at a mosque in Surabaya City, East Java Province, on Friday (March 15).

He emphasized that the free certification of all parcels of waqf land constitutes proof of the government's commitment to providing security and comfort to communities in religious activities.

"This is a testament to the government's care. The ATR Ministry is always present to provide the best to the people and all religious communities," he pointed out.

He then expressed hope that the 10 issued certificates, which provide legal certainty to mosques, prayer rooms, foundations, schools, and hospitals, would be beneficial to the people.

"This mosque has been standing for a long time, so it requires legal certainty. Hopefully, this certificate provides legal certainty over its land and will bring blessing and benefits to the congregation and local residents," he remarked.

The minister also appealed to the certificate recipients and congregation of the mosque to disseminate information about the need to certify waqf lands to a broader population.

"Certification is important to tidy up agrarian administration and urban spatial planning in the city of Surabaya," he concluded.
