Jambi (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, on Monday, appealed to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jambi Province to create job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

"The creative economy is an inclusive economy, meaning it is supposed to embrace everyone, including those with disabilities," he remarked in Jambi.

He underlined that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy had made efforts to facilitate disabled persons, including by providing them with training courses.

Uno then emphasized that people with disabilities possess the potential to make progress along with creative economy actors in Jambi.

"We hope that our disabled brothers and sisters will be able to showcase their talents and make the most of opportunities," he added.

The minister then drew attention to the Regional Regulation concerning the protection and fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities issued by the Jambi Provincial Government.

"Jambi has formulated a regional government (regulation) that is expected to embrace everyone and leave nobody behind," he remarked.

He once again reiterated that the creative economy is meant to provide room and opportunities to people from all groups.

"No one should be left behind, as the creative economy is very friendly to people with disabilities in nature. For instance, this economy enables the deaf to work as baristas," he pointed out.

He then emphasized the need to assist disabled persons in honing their skills while expressing hope that MSME actors would help the government achieve the target of creating 4.4 million new job opportunities this year.

Meanwhile, Jambi Governor Al Haris affirmed his office's commitment to protecting and fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities.

"We will continue to provide protection, assistance, and job opportunities to them," he remarked.
