In a statement received here on Friday, the ministry's director general of application and informatics, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said that women can play a role in the digital ecosystem by helping create inclusive spaces and regulations.
The discussion, which was held in collaboration with technology companies, was expected to motivate and inspire women to be active in the digital space and pursue digital entrepreneurship.
"The role of women in Indonesia's economic growth, especially in the digital realm, is very vital. Kominfo consistently encourages women's participation through a series of activities that create inclusive spaces to strengthen a safe digital ecosystem," Pangerapan added.
To support the growth of digital entrepreneurs in Indonesia, he said, the government has made several efforts, such as carrying out education, skill improvement, entrepreneurship workshops, training, and mentoring, as well as promoting the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.
To boost women's enthusiasm to create, government programs have been opened for women and they are accessible online, Pangerapan said.
Meanwhile, the leader of startup Yoona, Susanna Angraini, said that women entrepreneurs in Indonesia are growing because of their unique leadership.
She added that women have empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to do more than one job, which can be vital skills for building a business. These strengths can be honed further in the era of technology, she continued.
"By showing their abilities and contributions in the world of technology, women can change people's perceptions of their role and potential in advancing the nation," Angraini said.
