The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has planned a series of events of iftar, or fast-breaking meal, to enhance its relations with residents inhabiting the development site of the new capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan Province.
Indonesia is planning to relocate its seat of government to the future capital city, which is currently being developed in parts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara districts.
"We are seeking to further step up the bonds fostered between the OIKN and residents," Basic Service Director of the OIKN, Suwito, remarked in North Penajam Paser on Sunday.
He noted that Ramadan is a blessed month that can bolster brotherhood, togetherness, and intimacy among people. Hence, the OIKN took the initiative to invite locals to Iftar events, he added.
The planned series of iftar activities began in Bukit Raya Village, Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser, and will continue in other villages.
Suwito further emphasized that the OIKN would continue to exert efforts to solidify the sense of togetherness and closeness in Nusantara even after the holy month concludes.
Meanwhile, OIKN's Special Staff for Security and Safety, Edgar Diponegoro, remarked that a special regional government would soon be formed in Nusantara.
"We will continue to forge a sense of amity with local residents to develop Nusantara, a city that will soon have a special regional government," he stated.
He then emphasized the importance of local residents' support for the special regional government to ensure that the development of the city runs smoothly.
"Activities aimed at bolstering ties with locals are essential to the development and growth of Indonesia's future capital city," he stressed.
The official further noted that the Iftar events would be followed by similar events in an effort to encourage locals to collaborate to welcome Nusantara City.
