"We will open Eid posts in airports from April 3 to 18, by monitoring 51 airports for domestic flights and 16 airports for international flights," Murni stated in a statement received from her office on Wednesday.
She remarked that more than 4 million passengers are estimated to use air transportation during the 2024 Eid homecoming.
"Similar to the previous year, we will open an integrated Eid post at the Ministry of Transportation's head office and carry out monitoring at airports," she said.
The ministry projects an increase in passengers during the 2024 Eid homecoming by 12 percent as compared to the previous year, specifically for air transportation.
The number of air passengers at the peak of the homecoming flow this year, starting from April 6, is estimated to reach 310,411, comprising 261,206 domestic passengers and 49,205 international passengers.
Meanwhile, the peak return flow, starting from April 14, is estimated to reach 314,449 air passengers, with 261,573 domestic passengers and 52,875 international passengers.
To ensure adequate seating capacity, the ministry estimates that 329 aircraft will be needed based on the fleet availability of 420 aircraft and the projected number of domestic air transport passengers for Eid 2024, Murni stated.
"This means that air transport capacity needs have been met through regular capacity," she explained.
She also called on related parties to anticipate extreme weather by preparing contingency plans in case of accidents, force majeure, and threats to security and order.
"Delay management services also need to be prepared to ensure quality service for all passengers," Murni said.
