Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said on Wednesday that the government is providing full support to the domestic clothing industry through two regulations.

The first is the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 31/2023 on business licensing, advertising, guidance, and supervision of business actors in trade via electronic systems.

The second is Permendag No. 36/2023 regarding policies and regulations for the import of goods.

"The government, especially the Ministry of Trade, is providing full support to the clothing industry, including through the issuance of Permendag No. 31, which regulates procedures for direct or digital sales," he said during the opening of Indonesia Fashion Week in Jakarta.

Hasan explained that Permendag No. 31 defines the business model of electronic system trading organizers to enable better guidance and supervision. Permendag No. 36, on the other hand, addresses previously overly liberal import policies.

"In the past, imported goods could go directly to shops, but that is no longer the case," he said.

Hasan emphasized that the ultimate goal is to foster national pride in the domestic clothing industry.

"We want Indonesians to take pride in locally-made products," he stated.
