Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry's KaTa Kreatif (creative districts/cities) Program can assist creative economy actors in Cimahi City, West Java Province, in capitalizing on the potential of their city, Minister Sandiaga Uno stated.

In the ministry's statement received here on Sunday, Uno said he views Cimahi as a city blessed with a range of potentials that can serve as capitals to develop the sub-sectors of animation and video, fashion, and culinary.

"We seek to identify what is required by the creative economy players to advance their businesses. We are grateful that as a city encompassing only three sub-districts, Cimahi can become a creative city of animation and video, fashion, and culinary sub-sectors," he noted.

Speaking in the Kata Kreatif Workshop 2024 in Cimahi on Thursday (April 4), Uno said that Cimahi might emerge as a world-class city of animation while expressing optimism about the city boosting the appeal of its tourism villages by tapping into its creative economy potential.

He further underlined that, based on Cimahi's creative city self-assessment carried out in 2018, the city has identified film, animation, and video as its most promising aspects of the creative economy sector that are expected to drive the development of the sector in the city.

For its consistency and commitment to developing the tourism and creative economy sectors, Cimahi was declared one of the creative cities in Indonesia in 2021, he added.

He also expressed hope that the KaTa Kreatif Program would help the government achieve its target of creating 4.4 million quality and sustainable job opportunities.

Cimahi was the third region chosen to host the KaTa Kreatif Workshop 2024, which is a series of activities that prove the ministry's commitment to assisting creative economy actors and developing Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sectors.
