As quoted from the Papua government's website, Saereri refers to the traditional region of indigenous tribes inhabiting the northern regions of Papua Province, namely the districts of Biak Numfor, Supiori, Yapen Islands, Waropen and Mamberamo Raya.
"I would like to invite you, young people in the KNPI, to safeguard the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia," he told local youths during a meeting with KNPI members from five Papua Province districts in Biak Numfor District.
Fakhiri said he believes that young people can be vital in preventing the Indonesian nation from disintegrating.
In addition to maintaining the country's integrity, he added, youngsters should also support corruption eradication efforts to ensure the success of all development projects.
"The integrity of Indonesia and efforts to eradicate corruption need to prevail so that various development programs can genuinely benefit the people," he emphasized.
He then drew attention to the regional police's plan to recruit around 2,000 new non-commissioned officers this year, saying that his side would prioritize native Papuan youths during recruitment.
Fakhiri invited members of the KNPI interested in joining the force to register themselves while noting that they must be free from several diseases, such as AIDS, hepatitis, lung problems, and heart issues.
"Requirements concerning posture and other things are still up for discussion because they (new recruits) will be stationed back in their hometowns or other regions in Papua," he concluded.
