"The spirit of Eid al-Fitr certainly strengthens the unity and integrity of all components of the nation," said Temongmere after joining the Eid al-Fitr prayers in Manokwari Military Regional Command field on Wednesday.
According to him, the Indonesian Army and Police, as well as all members of the West Papuan society, support the conducive regional security situation from the beginning of Ramadhan until the implementation of the Eid prayer.
The conducive atmosphere reflects the harmony and tolerance of religious communities, which has been maintained since ancient times and will serve as the main capital for making West Papua more peaceful in the future.
"We can see that on the night of takbiran, people from other religions also participate in maintaining security," Temongmere pointed out.
The governor lauded the Islamic Holidays Committee (PHBI) at the provincial and district levels across West Papua for preparing several locations with individual imams and preachers for the smooth running of the Eid al-Fitr prayers.
Victory day, celebrated after fasting for one month, must be observed by Muslims by upholding good attitudes and actions in social life in the future.
"With the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims remain enthusiastic about caring for diversity," Temongmere said.
Meanwhile, the preacher of the Eid al-Fitr prayer at Manokwari field, Burhanuddin Ibnu, said the celebration is a moment to strengthen ties between all components of the nation, which were strained due to differences in choices in the 2024 elections.
Muslims are expected to continue to spread the message of peace to strengthen national unity and unity amid diversity so that the advance of globalization does not cause rifts.
"Islam does not look at who we are or where we come from. We are all equal before God, so let's do good for each other," Ibnu added.
