With the quick work from the PUPR Ministry, several toll roads can be used for homecoming this year.
Cikampek, West Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, has praised the quick repairs undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) at several toll roads to support this year's Eid al-Fitr homecoming.

"With the quick work from the PUPR Ministry, several toll roads can be used for homecoming this year," he noted on Monday.

For example, one section of the Bocimi Toll road section, which was previously damaged due to land sinking, has been made usable.

Furthermore, the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Dua Selatan toll road section, which earlier could only be operated during the day, is being kept open round the clock.

"We appreciate this quick work and smart work to support this year's homecoming," Effendy added.

However, he drew attention to the non-availability of clean water and toilets at rest areas.

He noted that the lack of clean water and toilets forced homecoming travelers to halt in rest areas for a longer time.

"This will be our evaluation material," he added.

The minister said that the handling of the Eid homecoming was better in 2024 compared to 2023.

"In general, the year's achievements are good compared to 2023, especially in terms of the number of traffic accidents," he expounded.

He added that the safety of travelers is the most important thing during the homecoming and return flow this year.

"The ideal would, of course, be 'zero accidents' but compared to last year, this is better. Both the number of deaths and the amount of compensation have decreased significantly," Effendy informed.

He also lauded the hard work of officers in the field who continuously worked to provide security and comfort to homecomers.

"Thank you for the hard and intelligent work of the ranks of the National Police and Jasa Marga as the toll road operator, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), regional governments, and others who took part in this great task," he added.
