The provincial government is handling the return flow in collaboration with the West Java Regional Police and the provincial, district, and city transportation offices.
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The West Java provincial government has said that the peak of the Eid return flow in West Java on April 14–15, 2024, was relatively under control.

West Java provincial secretary Herman Suryatman informed here on Tuesday that the density of returning vehicles increased since Saturday (April 13) at several route points in West Java.

"There was indeed congestion due to the increased volume of vehicles at certain hours since Saturday. Overcrowding occurred due to the meeting of returning travelers with the tourists' vehicles in close distances," he added.

On daily average, he said, 30 thousand to 45 thousand vehicles are flowing on the routes during the that time.

He informed that the provincial government is handling the return flow in collaboration with the West Java Regional Police and the provincial, district, and city transportation offices.

He explained that the police and transportation offices imposed the open-close system to reduce the number of vehicles in the return flow.

"The open and close scheme is enforced only if needed, so it is not always applied," Suryatman added.

He said that the authorities are focusing the implementation of the traffic engineering scheme at traffic congestion-prone points, such as the Puncak-Bogor area, Cileunyi-Tasikmalaya, including Limbangan and Gentong, the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, as well as nearby tourist attractions.

"There are 12 West Java transportation office posts spread in all points prone to congestion, both in the west, east, north, and south (directions). These posts aimed to respond quickly in case of overcrowding and other events," he added.

He assured that the posts are effectively monitoring the traffic conditions in the field.
