Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Defense Ministry Office on Medan Merdeka Barat Street and held a closed-door meeting here on Thursday.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto wore a gray suit and was on standby in his office lobby at 10:57 a.m. local time.

A black car, with the Chinese national flag, then stopped at the yard of the ministry's office at 10:58 a.m. local time.

Subianto then walked up to the car and greeted and shook hands with Yi.

The duo then faced the media crew who requested to take their pictures together.

Subianto and Yi then entered the ministry's lobby and were greeted by a marching band singing the national anthems of Indonesia and China.

Furthermore, Subianto and Yi held a closed-door meeting lasting for about an hour.

Yi's entourage was then seen leaving the ministry's office through the side door at 12:02 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, neither Subianto nor Yi gave any statements to the national or Chinese media crew.

Earlier, Yi held a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi at the Foreign Affairs Ministry's office in Jakarta.

Yi also met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace at 9:23 a.m. local time.

During the meeting, President Jokowi sought China's help to build mode of transportation in the country's new capital, Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

"Mr. President encouraged development cooperation in Nusantara, including for transportation mode," Minister Marsudi remarked.

Indonesia is Yi's first destination during his international visit on April 18-23, 2024. After Indonesia, the Chinese diplomat will visit Cambodia and Papua New Guinea.
