Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kemenkominfo) is working to ensure reliable connectivity during the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), which will take place in Bali from May 18–25, 2024.

The responsibility for ensuring reliable connectivity for the WWF has been assigned to state-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom Indonesia (Telkom).

"We have specifically collaborated with Telkom, but to make the Internet network more optimal, the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology has also asked for support from cellular operators," the director general of information and public communication, Usman Kansong, said when contacted by ANTARAon Monday.

The ministry has sought support from cellular operators such as Smartfren, Telkomsel, XL Axiata, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) to support the optimal functioning of 4G and 5G networks, he added.

A reliable network will not only be made available for delegates from different countries, but also media crews covering the international forum.

The media center will provide Internet with a super fast speed of 10 Gbps for media crews.

"I would like to convey that the readiness of telecommunications infrastructure for event venues such as media centers is standard at 10 Gbps," Kansong said.

"The speed is the same as during the ASEAN and G20 events before. This capacity has been running well so far and there have never been any interruptions," he added.

The main event of the 10th WWF will take place at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC).

It is estimated that around 30 thousand participants from 172 countries will attend the forum, including a number of invited heads of state.

For the media, the Indonesian government, as the organizer, will also provide adequate facilities through the WWF media center, which offers places to eat, relaxation areas, and other supporting facilities. The media center facility can accommodate up to 600 mediapersons.

The media center will be set up at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) 2 in two places: Tanjung Benoa Hall on the 1st floor and Legian Halls 1 to 8 on the mezzanine floor.

The 2024 WWF Bali will feature 290 sessions that will discuss crucial themes related to water, namely water security and prosperity; water for humans and nature; disaster risk reduction and management; water governance, cooperation, and diplomacy; sustainable water financing; and knowledge and innovation.

It is hoped that the forum will produce new solutions and commitments to achieve sustainable and fair water management.
