Jakarta (ANTARA) - President-elect Prabowo Subianto stated that he will focus on preparing the leadership transition for the time being until the presidential inauguration ceremony on October 20, 2024.

“While we are waiting for the handover of the presidential mandate on October 20, 2024, we will optimise the remaining time to earnestly prepare ourselves,” Prabowo stated at the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Office here on Sunday.

The president-elect said he would work with the vice president-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to study various national issues and discuss their solutions with the experts.

It is to ensure his government can promptly commence its duty for the nation after their inauguration on October 20, he added.

“We study (national) issues, we gather experts, and we discuss (the matter) with all stakeholders to allow us to devise steps (to resolve the issues). Hence, after the presidential mandate is given to me on October 20, no time would be wasted,” Prabowo stated.

He also said that he would not need to repeat informing the public about his proposed policies during the transition period as he believed it had been made clear during the campaign period.

The General Elections Commission (KPU), on April 24, 2024, officiated Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the president- and vice-president-elect as their rivals' efforts to challenge the February 14 poll results were quashed by the Constitutional Court.

President Joko Widodo affirmed that he would authorise the transition of leadership to the president- and vice president-elect to commence following the KPU declaration.

He also reiterated his government's full support for the smooth organization of the leadership transition until October 2024.
