"We are hoping for the existence of Nusantara to significantly elevate the contribution of the tourism and creative economy sectors in East Kalimantan," he remarked in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday (May 1).
According to Uno, the two sectors contribute 5.7-5.8 percent to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the province.
The minister then revealed that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy would increase the tourism and creative economy budget allocated for East Kalimantan by five percent following the province's designation as the host of Indonesia's future seat of government.
"The tourism and creative economy budget for East Kalimantan will rise, from 25 percent to 30 percent," he noted.
Uno then underlined that the contribution of the national tourism and creative economy sectors to the Indonesian GDP almost hit eight percent.
The minister further remarked that his side had been in collaboration with relevant institutions to support the development of IKN Nusantara by producing creative economy products that can open job and business opportunities.
Uno highlighted that the government has devised several programs aimed at boosting capital in the hopes of strengthening the capacity of creative economy communities and players to partake in making the IKN development a success.
"Communities and business actors are the backbone of economic development in East Kalimantan. For that reason, we need to aim for sustainable economy," he stated.
