Based on information obtained from the official Instagram account of the Defense Ministry @kemhan here on Friday, Harjono and his staff had visited Subianto's office.
Subianto, who had been waiting in his office, greeted Harjono and other officials. The two were seen saluting one another and then shaking hands.
On a round table, they discussed various efforts to improve Indonesia's air defense.
"The strengthening of the Air Force is a priority because it is an important part of maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of the nation," Subianto was quoted as saying on @kemhan Instagram account.
However, details were not furnished on the concrete efforts discussed between the Defense Ministry and the Air Force to improve the air defense field.
President-elect Subianto, on Instagram account @kemhan, conveyed the need for sound coordination between the Air Force and the Defense Ministry to improve Indonesia's air defense.
"Synchronization and synergistic coordination between the Air Force and the Defense Ministry are necessary," he emphasized.
Based on an earlier report, Harjono expressed keenness to bring all ranks of the Indonesian military (TNI) and National Police (Polri) together to work to bolster Indonesia's air defense.
"We expect guidance and support from various parties, including from TNI and Polri officials and seniors, so that we can carry out this mandate well," he remarked while giving a speech at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base here on Friday (April 5).
He explained that his side had received a direct order from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to strengthen air defense.
He said his side will carry out the mandate by strengthening security detection technology and the main defense equipment.
