According to her ministry's statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, Fauziyah visited Macau to meet with Indonesian Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau, Yul Edison, on Wednesday (May 8) at local time.
"We hope that this inaugural working visit will intensify the manpower diplomacy running between Indonesia and the governments of Hong Kong and Macau, especially to bolster protection for Indonesian migrant workers," she remarked.
Since Macau is among the popular destinations of Indonesian migrant workers, she stressed that efforts to step up migrant worker protection are of vital importance.
She said the Ministry of Manpower had registered a total of 6,501 Indonesian migrant workers residing in Macau, as per data in March 2024.

The minister further elaborated on the data, saying that the migrants are working in a range of sectors, including hotel, real estate, rental services, business activities, recreational activities, culture, and gaming.
On that note, Fauziyah revealed her plan on holding a meeting with Chief Executive of Macau, Ho Iat Seng, to pursue the enhancement of protection of Indonesian migrant workers in the region.
"In this regard, during our visit to Macau, we will meet with the chief executive of Macau to ask for support for the strengthening of the protection for Indonesian migrant workers in Macau," she pointed out.
In addition to meeting with the chief executive, Fauziyah is scheduled to attend a business-matching event in Hong Kong and conduct dissemination of information on job markets and social security programs to Indonesian migrant workers.
