"I know exactly that Mr. Prabowo, as president-elect, has a high commitment to villages," he told the press here on Saturday.
Iskandar also expressed optimism that the good programs of the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration will be continued by the new government under the leadership of Prabowo.
He conveyed the statement to respond to a question on the continuity of his ministry's programs in the next government's term of office, namely from 2024 to 2029.
According to him, one of the programs that could potentially be continued is technical training for villages' digital cadres, which is given to boost the cadres' understanding of the Smart Village program.
The Smart Village program encourages villages to transform by utilizing technology and is aimed at improving the quality of basic services and building villages based on community empowerment through human resources' capacity improvement.
On April 24, 2024, the General Elections Commission (KPU) officially declared Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka president-elect and vice president-elect, respectively.
During the political campaign period of the 2024 general elections, Prabowo and Gibran conveyed their vision, missions, and programs, which included the issue of village.
One of the eight missions of the Prabowo-Gibran pair highlights development that starts in villages to achieve economic equality and poverty eradication.
In addition, they also include designing programs to continue village infrastructure development as well as priority programs in the form of guaranteeing low-cost housing and sanitation for village communities and people in need.
