According to a statement issued by his ministry on Wednesday, Hartarto said that the police force has a role in ensuring the stability of the domestic situation and public security.
"Political stability and security are the pre-requisites for the nation's progress, and the police's strategic role is to create a sense of security, legal certainty, and oversee economic development in the country," he added.
He delivered the remarks virtually at the National Police's 2024 Criminal Investigation Function Technical Work Meeting in Bali.
He explained that strong synergy between the government and the police is needed to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
The government and Polri have collaborated in several programs, such as national cybersecurity, the Pre-Employment Card (PraKerja) Program, the strengthening of the governance of placement and protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), and food price stabilization.
They have also worked together to monitor transnational crimes, supervise National Strategic Projects (PSN), and support domestic trade.
At the meeting, Hartarto also talked about the latest economic fundamentals that have continued to improve and support endeavors to achieve the goals of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also forecast that Indonesia's economic growth will be above the projected global growth and the average of developing countries in 2024–2025.
These good economic prospects can be seen from the growing consumption and investment, continued consumer confidence, positive growth of retail sales, expansionary manufacturing sector performance, and double digit credit growth, Hartarto said.
"Under such conditions, the government will continue to monitor and mitigate the impact of global economic dynamics," he added.
He said that his side will keep strengthening collaboration in fiscal, monetary, and real sector policies.
