Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati officiated the new building of the Government Investment Center (PIP) that is expected to optimize the functions of the institution managed by the Finance Ministry.

The functions of the PIP include developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and serving as a platform that manages the government's investment funds.

"Hopefully, this building will bring benefits to the whole nation of Indonesia, especially to all MSME players as well as stakeholders related to the PIP," she noted in the Finance Ministry's statement accessed in Jakarta on Friday (May 17).

The newly inaugurated building is a renovated asset managed by the Ministry of Finance.

During the inauguration ceremony, Indrawati ensured that renovation of the building took into account the values of cultural heritage surrounding it.

"We sought to preserve some original aspects of the building while expanding it to facilitate the functions of the Ministry of Finance, or the PIP in this case," she stated.

The minister also called on her officials at the PIP to continue to create innovation, work creatively, and maintain professionalism to face highly dynamic situations.

She then urged the PIP to forge sound synergy with the Finance Ministry's special mission vehicles (SMVs) and other relevant stakeholders.

The Finance Ministry, on its website, refers to SMVs as companies formed to assist the finance minister in carrying out non-primary development tasks and support the government's investment and procurement of certain goods and public facilities.

"This is not a simple mission, as it is related to the public and plenty of stakeholders," Indrawati underlined.

She then expressed hope that the new building of the PIP would support Indonesia to further grow its national economy.
