"In this forum, we have to talk about and think about the strategies that we can implement and put in place to secure our future generations in terms of water security and for water safety," Katonivere said.
For Fiji, the water security is one of its current focuses while working to balance the country's development with efforts to address climate change, he said.
Moreover, Fiji is one of the island nations in the South Pacific region that severely suffers the impacts of climate change, President Katonivere said.
The 10th World Water Forum must be able to ensure the requirements of the concrete deliverables for all countries participating in the agenda become reality.
The forum can also show which countries will support all achieved consensus, including efforts to address the water issues at the global level, he said, adding that a series of meetings and studies had been made to find ways and solutions to the issues.
Fiji's President Wiliame Katonivere is one of the heads of state attending this largest international meeting to discuss and formulate policies regarding world water management and sanitation.
As the host country, Indonesia proposes the establishment of the Centre of Excellence (COE) for Water and Climate Resilience to provide a platform to address water issues and realise water security amid climate change.
Moreover, some 244 multi-themed sessions on water issues during the 10th WWF are expected to provide concrete actions on water management on the global level.
