Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Minister Budi Arie Setiadi led an Indonesian delegation during a bilateral meeting on the digital economy with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday.

During the meeting, Setiadi stressed the Indonesian government's commitment to promoting and boosting the digital economy with the aim of narrowing economic gaps and supporting digitization in Indonesia and fellow developing countries.

"Indonesia is a big country that encompasses tens of thousands of islands. It is a tough challenge for us to develop the digital economy. We are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind," he said, according to a statement released by the ministry in Jakarta.

He also briefed DCO representatives about Indonesia's government technology (GovTech) platform INA Digital, which was launched by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Monday.

The minister then emphasized the importance of maintaining a sense of togetherness among the Global South countries to bring about mutual progress and advancement.

Meanwhile, DCO secretary-general Deemah Al Yahya said that the organization has been consistent in supporting digitization efforts and endorsing the digital economy in numerous countries.

She then stressed the DCO's commitment to advocating the participation and contribution of women to the digital economy.

Al Yahya also invited Setiadi to take part in the DCO General Assembly in Amman, Jordan, in February next year.

In response, the Indonesian minister invited the DCO leader to the inauguration of Indonesia's National Data Center in Bekasi district, West Java, in August this year.

During the meeting, which began at 10 a.m. local time at the Geneva International Convention Center, Setiadi was accompanied by Kominfo Ministry's director general of post and informatics administration, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, and some of his special staff.
