Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that resignations of Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono and OIKN Deputy Head Dhony Rahajoe were tendered for personal reasons.

"You can ask Mr Susantono and Mr Rahajoe because the reasons are personal," he said in response to questions from the media regarding the resignation of the head and deputy head of OIKN, based on a voice recording received by ANTARA here on Wednesday.

The president said he would give a new assignment to Susantono as special envoy for international cooperation in order to accelerate development in Nusantara, which is the new capital of Indonesia located in East Kalimantan.

"He is experienced in the field of international affairs. We will use it maximally for the good of the country," he noted.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi has yet to give a special assignment to Rahajoe.

The president also emphasized that the resignations of the OIKN head and deputy head have no impact on either investment or investor confidence in the development of the new capital.

Earlier, on Monday (June 3), State Secretary Minister Pratikno announced Susantono and Rahajoe's resignations, marked by the issuance of a presidential decree.

Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono was then appointed as Acting Head of OIKN, while Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni was appointed as Acting Deputy Head of OIKN.

According to Pratikno, President Jokowi called on Hadimuljono and Antoni to ensure the acceleration of development in Nusantara maximally in accordance with the vision in Nusa Rimba Raya, or green city concept, and to provide positive benefits to the community.
