He expressed optimism that his appointment as acting OIKN head would not reduce investor confidence in the continuity of the development of Indonesia's new capital Nusantara.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono expressed hope that investors' confidence would remain high after the resignation of Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono and OIKN Deputy Head Dhony Rahajoe.

"I think there is no issue. Hopefully, the confidence will be higher because those who take up their positions are a minister and a deputy minister," Hadimuljono stated at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday.

On Monday, State Secretary Minister Pratikno announced Susantono and Raharjoe's resignations. In order to expedite Nusantara's development, Susantono—who was named Head of OIKN by President Jokowi in March 2022—will take on a new task in the area of international cooperation.

Hadimuljono was then appointed as Acting Head of OIKN, while Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni was appointed as Acting Deputy Head of OIKN.

The minister explained that the duties of the OIKN Acting Head are no different from those previously held by Bambang Susantono as the earlier officeholder.

He expressed optimism that his appointment as acting OIKN head would not reduce investor confidence in the continuity of the development of Indonesia's new capital Nusantara.

The minister remarked that currently, the progress in the development of the new capital has reached 80 percent for stages 1 and 2, with funding sourced from the state budget.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to conduct groundbreakings for several facilities from Monday until Wednesday (June 5).

In their new positions, Hadimuljono and Antoni are tasked with resolving land status issues and establishing a special regional government in Nusantara.

Minister Hadimuljono noted that certainty regarding land status will be able to accelerate investments in the new capital located in East Kalimantan.
