Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) stated that around 50 Letters of Intent (LOI) were received in connection with the development of IKN Smart City technology in East Kalimantan.

"There are more than 50 LOI showing interest for smart city technology at IKN," OIKN's Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Mohammed Ali Berawi, remarked in Jakarta on Monday.

Berawi noted that those LOI came from both domestic and international companies.

He highlighted that several international companies are involved in the development of smart city technology and smart transportation.

Giant technology companies, such as IBM in the United States, Huawei in China, Thales in France, and Siemens in Germany, are interested in participating in the development of the smart city for IKN, he stated.

Moreover, he drew attention to a development plan proposed by the United States for a consortium comprising several companies, such as IBM, Microsoft, Honeywell, Cisco, and Meta followed by Huawei China; LG, Samsung, and Hyundai from South Korea; Siemens from Germany; and Thales from France.

He remarked that those LOI are in the process of being realized. However, the development of IKN as a city must be completed first.

Regarding efforts to realize Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), his side is collaborating with the Balikpapan city government to test this technology on the streets of Balikpapan.

Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 63 of 2022 concerning Details of the Master Plan for IKN stipulates that the main characteristics of IKN must be smart, green, and sustainable.

This means the city should manage resources efficiently, provide information accurately and openly, and provide excellent service to its citizens.

Such goals can be achieved by managing the socio-cultural and economic activities of the city in a balanced manner with environmental support, ensuring efficient use of water and energy resources, conducting waste processing, developing integrated transportation, conducting healthy environmental housing and settlements planning, as well as fostering synergy between natural and man-made environments.
