Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government, through the National Alms Agency (Baznas) and the Merah Putih II Task Force of the National Armed Forces (TNI), has successfully conducted the second round of humanitarian airdrops in Gaza, Palestine.

"Praise be to God, the assistance donated by the Indonesian people for our brothers and sisters in Palestine has once again been airdropped in the Gaza Strip," Baznas Head Noor Achmad stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He noted that the aid, transported by TNI aircraft on Monday (August 18), was packed in specially designed safe and secure containers to ensure it reached those most in need in Gaza amid Israel's ongoing genocidal acts.

Achmad described the relief mission as a reflection of the unwavering solidarity and support of Indonesians for Palestine’s struggle for independence.

"This humanitarian mission is proof of the Indonesian people’s care and timeless sense of brotherhood toward the Palestinian nation, shown amid Independence Day celebrations," he emphasized.

He also credited the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Defense Ministry for their roles in coordinating the mission.

Meanwhile, Baznas Director of Distribution Ahmad Fikri stressed that all the packages sent to Gaza originated from public donations gathered from Indonesians determined to ease the suffering of Palestinians.

"We hope this assistance will not only provide concrete benefits but also boost the morale of the Palestinian people to continue their struggle for independence," he remarked.

The second operation followed an earlier airdrop on Sunday (August 17), which coincided with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

In the first mission, the TNI deployed two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to deliver 80 tons of logistics comprising food, medicines, and clothing.

Together, the two shipments constitute part of Indonesia’s broader plan to send a total of 800 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
