He made this statement during a working meeting with the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday.
"We see no problems regarding the IKN. Investments are flowing, and development is going as expected. Even if there were delays here and there, that is something normal. No issues," he said during the meeting that was followed online in Jakarta.
The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, had been installed as the OIKN acting head.
Luhut said that his ministry has been assisting the authority in legitimately securing around 2,000 hectares of land in Nusantara.
"The OIKN deputy head is working very swiftly, and we are assisting him in completing the acquisition of 2,000 hectares of land with a rather unclear status. I think we will also cooperate with the Land Bank Agency," he underlined.
Luhut expressed optimism about the government completing the development of Indonesia's future capital city through synergy fostered among stakeholders.
On June 4, President Joko Widodo emphasized that investing in Nusantara is like owning the future, as various facilities and infrastructure being constructed in the city will only start bringing concrete benefits in the years to come.
He noted that the development of transportation infrastructure and facilities, such as toll roads and airports, would make the new capital city more accessible.
The president encouraged investors to not hesitate to place their capital in the development of the city, as the prices of land there might increase along with surges in demand in the future.
He also underlined that Nusantara is envisioned as an eco-friendly and livable city that does not rely on the existence of skyscrapers to display its futuristic style.
