"An approach based on local wisdom and regional context can strengthen community acceptance and support and reduce the potential for conflict, so that the implementation of development strategies becomes more relevant and effective," the vice president remarked on Wednesday.
Amin made the statement while giving a speech at the "Declaration of the National Strategic Program and the Papua Mountains Province" event in Wamena, Papua Mountains.
The vice president stated that the government is aware of the challenges in developing mountainous areas with difficult geographic and topographical conditions, populations scattered across mountains and valleys, and limited inter-regional accessibility, such as in the Laa Pago traditional area.
"Attention to the Laa Pago traditional territory has been emphasized in the 2020-2024 RPJMN as one of the strategic priority programs in order to accelerate the development of this traditional territory," the vice president remarked.
Amin emphasized the importance of precise regional mapping in the Papua Mountains Province region, where each district has its own unique potential.
"For example, formulate the role of the Bintang Mountains District on the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and the role of Yahukimo District as the gateway to southern Papua," the vice president explained.
"The role of Yalimo District as the gateway to northern Papua or formulate a program to improve health, education, and living standards, with the main target of people of Original Papua in Nduga District," he added.
The vice president assessed that by understanding the characteristics of each region, the government can formulate development policies and programs that are more targeted and avoid ineffective allocation of resources.
Amin remarked that during his working visit to Wamena this time, he would launch a national strategic program, which is the extension of the Wamena Airport runway and construction of the Wamena-Jayapura Trans Papua National Road.
Also scheduled is the launch of the strategic program for the Papua Mountains Province, including the development of the central government core area of the Papua Mountains Province.
The launch agenda also includes the food center area of Jayawijaya District, the electricity program in Lanny Jaya District, and the drinking water management system in Jayawijaya District.
"I hope that the programs that I will launch today will really have an impact and benefit the community, so that they can increase economic growth, equitable development, and community welfare in the Papua Mountains Province," the vice president remarked.
