The discussion took place when the ministry's secretary, Gunawan Suswantoro, received a visit from Roberto Agustin Gimenez, Head of the Economic and Trade Section at the Argentine Embassy, in Jakarta.
In the ministry's statement, Suswantoro noted that his side would soon follow up on several points discussed during the meeting.
"The points include (sending) Indonesian players to a training camp in Argentina, boosting coaching skills, and developing young athletes," he stated.
He further emphasized that the Ministry of Youth and Sports would continue to support the intensification of bilateral cooperation in sports fostered between Indonesia and Argentina, with a special focus on football.
The official then affirmed that the ministry and the government of Argentina had been enjoying harmonious relations since 2013, while recalling the international football friendly match between Indonesia and Argentina held at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium last year.
"We will continue to strengthen this relationship," he affirmed.
Argentina's Gimenez, for his part, extended his country's gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry for maintaining sound bilateral relations.
He expressed the Argentine government's keenness to take its sports cooperation with Indonesia to a higher level.
The Argentinian diplomat also explained the goal of his visit, saying that he intended to introduce himself and pursue deeper bilateral sports cooperation with Indonesia, with football as a priority.
He then expressed hope for the implementation of exchanges of young football players and football coaches as well as a training camp program between both nations.
In addition to football, Gimenez remarked that the Argentine government is interested in broadening its cooperation with Indonesia in other sports.
