"For the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day at IKN, the electricity will be fully sourced from new and renewable energy," PT PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated during his speech at the groundbreaking for the PLN Hub at IKN Nusantara on Wednesday.
According to Prasodjo, all electrical energy needs will be supplied from the PLTS facility at IKN, for which construction began on November 2, 2023.
"President Joko Widodo inaugurated the groundbreaking of the PLTS last year," he remarked.
PT PLN, through its subholding PLN Nusantara Power, succeeded in connecting the IKN PLTS to the phase I transmission network of 10 megawatts (MW) out of a total of 50 MW on February 29.

PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah, in his statement, also confirmed that the IKN PLTS will be operating on time to supply electricity to IKN during the Independence Day commemoration.
"The first phase of synchronization, with a capacity of 10 MW, has been successfully carried out according to schedule. We will continue with synchronization for 40 MW until this PLTS can operate commercially to electrify IKN," he remarked.
The 50 MW IKN PLTS is a pioneer in generating new and renewable energy at IKN Nusantara. It has been built on an 80-hectare plot of land with 21,600 solar panels and is able to absorb a local workforce of up to 337 people.
The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry is preparing the construction of the State Palace, the palace area, and the Presidential Office to be used for the ceremony to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day.
The Independence Day celebration will be held at IKN Nusantara as the starting point for the gradual transfer of the country's capital from Jakarta to IKN.
