"Transformation must reach marginalized communities as well as communities that were previously unbankable," BKSAP Deputy Head Putu Supadma Rudiana noted in an official DPR statement received here on Monday.
On Monday (June 10), Rudiana represented the Indonesian parliament at a tripartite forum on ASEAN's Digital Economy and Cyber Resilience held in Brunei Darussalam. It was a side event of the 15th meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) caucus.
He affirmed that despite the discussion in the forum being largely focused on cyber resilience or security, the parliaments of ASEAN countries must also encourage their respective governments to make the welfare of the community a goal of digital transformation.
The agency's deputy head expressed hope that with the conference session of the forum, all parties would work to enable communities without access to financial services to also be able to derive the benefits.
Furthermore, he underscored the dire need for all parties' support to players of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in facing digitalization in all sectors, considering the huge potential of the digital economy.
To this end, the BKSAP deputy head remarked that sustainable digital transformation should not only benefit big corporations but also small-scale businesses and the wider community.
Furthermore, he assessed that sound synergy between the parliament, the government, and the private sector would be able to push sustainable digital transformation.
