Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry underscored the importance of taking into account myriad factors in restoring the environment, including efforts to support economic growth and community welfare improvement.

The ministry's Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships, Mahfudz, noted in an online discussion monitored from Jakarta on Tuesday that resolving the climate crisis requires innovation and principles of justice, especially in the efforts to restore the environment.

"Land restoration will benefit the ecosystem by supporting economic growth and improving community welfare," he affirmed.

To ensure that land restoration efforts are running while also ensuring the welfare of the surrounding community, Mahfudz explained that the directorate general takes into account the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural pillars while implementing various policies.

Apart from the environment, the economic sector must also become an important aspect to be considered in the endeavors to restore the environment as one of the climate change mitigation steps.

He explained that it would be challenging to engage communities that are not yet prosperous in conservation efforts.

"Thus, through this effort, of course, we must encourage the welfare of the community by not forgetting environmental interests and maintaining social dynamics," he remarked at the discussion held as part of the World Environment Day commemoration.

In this regard, he pressed for collaboration among all parties in several efforts carried out by the government, including various environmental partnership programs implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

"For our common interests, active collaboration and participation of every party in saving the Earth are necessary. We, the government, cannot work alone, and of course, many parties will be involved," Mahfudz remarked.
