Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto stated that African countries have begun viewing Indonesia as a model of a developing country that is successful in its domestic policies and global diplomacy.

"What matters now is that Africa is starting to look at us now," Prabowo stated after attending a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Palace here on Thursday (June 13).

He spoke of having observed such trends while attending an emergency international summit on Gaza held in Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday (June 11).

On the sidelines of the agenda, Prabowo met Mozambique President Felipe Nyusi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

"They now see Indonesia as an example of a successful developing country in the Global South," the minister remarked.

He affirmed that the two African leaders are interested in studying the Indonesian government's strategies for addressing social issues.

"Our steps, our determination to downstream (natural resources), and our alignment with people who are suffering in the world are interesting to them," Prabowo noted.

Meanwhile, regarding Indonesia's diplomacy in the Jordan conference, he affirmed that Indonesia had offered concrete commitments to address the humanitarian disaster due to the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

"We are ready to receive one thousand injured Palestinians as our first step. We are also ready to receive one thousand children to continue their schooling in Indonesia and return them home after completing it," Prabowo stated.

"I believe our steps are respected by many countries," he added.

Indonesia's concrete steps during the conference were also commended by Rwanda and Mozambique, which intend to emulate the Indonesian government's policies, the minister remarked.

"They invited me. They asked for Indonesia's support and assistance, and they also asked to be educated in Indonesia," Prabowo remarked.
