"This year, the Limousin cow donation from President Joko Widodo was given to the Nurul Hidayah Grand Mosque, Topoyo Sub-District, Central Mamuju," Acting Head of the West Sulawesi Regional Secretariat, Iksan Mustari, said here on Sunday.
When arriving in Central Mamuju on Sunday afternoon, the team handed over the cow to the management of the Nurul Hidayah Grand Mosque.
The team involved in the handing-over of the sacrificial cow include the local bureau of the administration and community welfare, the West Sulawesi Food Security, Horticulture and Livestock Office, and the district food resilience office.
Mustari said that the cow, that will be sacrificed for the Eid al-Adha Day, was purchased for Rp100 million or around US$6000.
The cow was bought from Kebunsari Village, Polewali Mandar District, West Sulawesi, and was based on the direction of the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi, Bahtiar Baharuddin.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Nurul Hidayah Mosque Committee Salahuddin, who received the sacrificial cow, expressed his gratitude to President Jokowi and the West Sulawesi Provincial Government.
"We would like to express our gratitude to President Joko Widodo and the acting Governor of West Sulawesi for the sacrificial cow assistance which weighs more than one ton," he said.
President Joko Widodo's sacrificial cow for Central Mamuju, he said, will be distributed to underprivileged people in the district.
"It will be distributed to orphanages and the poor," he said.
On Eid al-Adha this year, President Jokowi distributed a total of 68 sacrificial cows to the provincial governments in 38 provinces, including West Sulawesi Province.
