Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry stated that collaboration between the Harapan Kita Cardiovascular Hospital (RSJPDHK) and Tokushukai Medical Group can increase the number of cardiovascular surgeries performed nationally, from five thousand cases annually to seven thousand.

The ministry's director general for health services, Azhar Jaya, stated that a formal cooperation agreement (MoU) between the two entities is signed for the development of the best cardiovascular treatment center in Indonesia and the Asia Pacific.

"The aid, given particularly by the private entity, is so significant, which is 10 billion yen, or one trillion rupiah. This aid will be used to create a 22-story building," Jaya noted in a press conference here on Tuesday.

Jaya affirmed that the measure is a follow-up to the MoU signing on December 11, 2023, in Tokyo, Japan.

He remarked that the aid can also be channeled to expand the hospital's bed capacity from 400 to 750, thereby allowing for the annual provision of seven thousand treatments and surgeries instead of just five thousand.

President Director of Harapan Kita Cardiovascular Hospital Dr Iwan Dakota stated that his administration has been working with the Japanese entity for two decades, especially in the areas of research, education, and training.

"With the new building developed later on, the Tokushukai-Harapan Kita building, we expect that apart from improvement in the capacity of services in the hospital, there is also strong quality improvement," Dakota remarked.

He opined that such goals align with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin's directive of making the hospital the best in Asia.

Chairman of the Tokushukai Medical Group Higashiue Shinichi expressed delight to be involved in the project and expected that it would show great results in the long term.

"We are so happy to work with Harapan Kita Cardiovascular Hospital. We believe that this project will bring good to many people, and we are committed to always supporting the improvement of health services in Indonesia," Higashiue affirmed
