Samarinda (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) reaffirmed its commitment to elevating the quality of human resources at the development site of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to ensure locals' active role in the city's development.

OIKN Director of Community Empowerment Conrita Ermanto stated in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday that the government is pursuing physical and non-physical aspects in developing the future capital city.

"We seek to side with local residents by empowering them and creating job opportunities," he remarked.

Ermanto highlighted that the OIKN had been collaborating with various institutions to bolster the quality of local human resources, including the Manpower Ministry, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

He noted that his office had been cooperating with universities and regional governments, especially the East Kalimantan government, in that cause.

"We have implemented various efforts, including training activities and collaborations with universities, to empower people," he pointed out.

He also said that the OIKN had been organizing construction training activities, offering local women culinary training courses, and aligning the availability of the local workforce with the companies' needs.

"In addition, we are striving to augment local workers' competency by referring to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI) and pursuing the issuance of certificates from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) for those trained by job training centers," he remarked.

Ermanto underlined that the OIKN had instructed companies involved in the development of Nusantara to hire at least 30 percent of their workforce from the local community.

"We are also consistent in disseminating information on job opportunities in IKN," he concluded.
