"I really want to ensure that this airport can operate by August 1, in order to support connectivity in the IKN area, especially to make the upcoming Independence Day ceremony successful," he stated here on Friday.
During his visit, Sumadi reviewed several aspects, such as the runway and the terminal building.
He highlighted significant progress in the development of the two facilities and other supporting facilities.
"When compared to the condition a few weeks ago, the changes have been obvious, especially in the runway and terminal building," he explained.
Sumadi commended the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, along with the workers, for the swift progress.
Currently, the runway is undergoing the first stage of paving and will be able to accommodate narrow-bodied aircraft by August 1st.
"The airport will eventually accommodate large-bodied aircraft, with additional layers to be added in the next stage," he stated.
Sumadi explained the importance of weather factors in construction, expressing his hope for consistently sunny weather with minimal rain in Nusantara.
"Especially for the runway," he remarked. "Ideally, work should be done in hot weather conditions to maximize the results."
