“The development of the 112 Single Emergency Call Number has become one of the government’s priorities in providing fast and integrated services,” Director General of Regional Administration Development, Safrizal Zakaria Ali, said in a statement confirmed here on Thursday.
He conveyed the statement while accompanying Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian in receiving a working visit from Commissioner of South Korea’s National Fire Agency, Seung Ryong Kim, on Wednesday (May 13). The visit followed the minister’s directive regarding plans to strengthen and further develop Indonesia’s 112 Single Emergency Call system.
Ali stated that the visit served as an opportunity to strengthen the national emergency service system so that it becomes more integrated, faster, and responsive to various emergency situations.
On the occasion, Ali also handed over a Letter of Intent (LoI) to South Korea’s National Fire Agency representative, Seung Ryong Kim, as an initial step to strengthen bilateral cooperation in developing the national emergency service system.
The scope of cooperation outlined in the LoI includes the establishment and development of reporting systems for fire control, disaster management, and emergency rescue services in Indonesia, including technical consultations and policy experience sharing between the two countries, Ali noted.
In addition, the cooperation also covers joint participation and support in various organizing international exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and similar activities related to firefighting and emergency rescue services.
“We are also opening opportunities to strengthen human resource capacity through education, training, and personnel exchange programs to improve the competence of firefighting and rescue personnel,” he remarked.
