Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pahala Nugraha Mansury emphasized the importance of applying the spirit of the Asian-African Conference, alternatively known as Bandung Conference, to deal with global challenges.

He made the statement before ambassadors of friendly countries and representatives of ministries, agencies, and state-run enterprises during a meeting on the preparations for the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) and High-Level Forum on Multi Stakeholders Partnership (HLF-MSP) in Jakarta on Friday (June 28).

As cited from his office's statement, Mansury spoke highly of the historical conference, saying that the spirit of unity it promotes has been guiding Indonesia and Africa to cooperate in actualizing their visions, namely Golden Indonesia 2045 and Africa's Agenda 2063.

Collectively, the gross domestic product of the two entities stands at US$4.4 trillion, with their total population reaching 1.7 billion.

The deputy minister then explained that the 2nd IAF, scheduled for September 1-3 this year in Bali Province, would adopt "Bandung Spirit for Africa's Agenda 2063" as its theme and focus on issues related to economic transformation, energy and mining, food, health, and development.

He added that the forum, which aims to draw participation from African heads of state and hundreds of international delegates, would feature high-level meetings, panel discussions, exhibitions, business matching activities, and various side events.

The inaugural edition of the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum will also take place during the 2nd IAF.

Speaking of the HLF-MSP, Foreign Policy and International Development Cooperation Director at the National Development Planning Ministry, Hendra Wahanu Prabandani, noted that the forum is expected to be joined by heads of state from various regions and several leaders of international organizations.

The HLF-MSP, themed "Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnership for Development towards a Transformation Change", will feature a series of activities, namely a high-level plenary session, parallel sessions, a gala dinner, and cultural performances.

In addition to representatives of states and international organizations, the forum will also be participated by business actors, non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and academicians.
