Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has praised the ongoing cooperation between Indonesia and Azerbaijan in developing public services.

"I laud the Azerbaijani public service for having inspired Indonesia's," he said after receiving chairperson of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations, Ulvi Mehdiyev, here on Monday.

He said that the first public service mall (MPP) was established in Banyuwangi district, East Java, and currently, there are 200 public service malls spread across Indonesian districts/cities.

"Starting in Banyuwangi, now there are two hundred MPPs, and we will add them up to five hundred in all districts/cities," he added.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform, Abdullah Azwar Anas, said that public services in Azerbaijan have received recognition from the United Nations (UN).

The public service system of Azerbaijan is called ASAN Xidmat.

"Azerbaijan has received recognition from the UN for integrating public services into a center. In fact, they have buses that travel around to offer public services in various places," he noted.

He added that Indonesia and Azerbaijan have been working together in the public service sector since 2017.

"This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has existed since 2017, and we have just renewed it. Azerbaijan, generally, has the same characteristics as us: it is a Muslim country and its services are extraordinary. More than 200 services in one center," Anas expounded.

The minister said that when he was the district head of Banyuwangi, he had visited Azerbaijan to learn about its public service system.

"When I was a district head in 2014, I visited Azerbaijan (to observe the public service system) and replicated it in Banyuwangi and now, the (central) government is replicating it in various services," he informed.

At present, public service malls are also moving to another level — that of digital public service malls, he added.
