"It's peak season in Penglipuran, so we've set a high target of five thousand tourist visits per day, building on the current daily average of 3,500," he informed here on Thursday.
The village festival, which was previously held at the end of the year, has been moved to July 4–7 this year.
Sumiarsa said that with more attractions in the peak tourism season, he is optimistic about achieving the target.
"We considered the geographical location, that is, the rainfall is higher in December, so we moved (the festival) to July when it is also the peak season so tourists can get additional attractions," he said.
Based on the data, he said that the village set a target of 800 thousand visits last year, which eventually reached 980 thousand, with 85 percent of visitors being domestic tourists.
Currently, the village is seeing a large number of tourists due to the school holiday season.
The Penglipuran Tourism Village management assured that there has been no increase in the entrance fee during the peak season.
Tickets to the festival are priced at Rp15,000 (almost US$1) for children and Rp25,000 (around US$1.5) for adults for domestic tourists. For foreign tourists, tickets are Rp25,000 for children and Rp50,000 for adults.
The festival opening alone involved more than 500 artists and featured a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSMEs) exhibition.
This year, the village, which was named the "2023 Best Tourism Village" by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), has chosen the theme "Endless Devotion to Mother Earth as a Spirit of Tourism" for the festival.
The theme promotes devotion to the motherland and as a motivation for life and tourism in the area.
