Jakarta (ANTARA) - BPJS Kesehatan (Health Social Security) launched the Face Recognition BPJS Kesehatan (FRISTA) technology here on Monday to improve service efficiency and accuracy. President director of BPJS Kesehatan, Ghufron Mukti, said that the technology has significant potential to prevent identity theft and ensure that only the rightful members/users have access to their data.

"With this technology, the identity verification process can be faster and more accurate, thus reducing queues and minimizing errors," he informed.

According to him, the tech used in FRISTA is capable of accurately recognizing faces in photos, videos, and in person. FRISTA also allows for the use of a single identity number in identity cards as an alternative to National Health Insurance (JKN) cards to verify members.

Mukti said that the innovation was developed with the support of and in collaboration with the Home Affairs Ministry's Directorate General of Population and Civil Registry.

He opined that the initiative, which utilizes photos from the directorate general's database for face recognition, would allow for better quality in the management of JKN members' data.

He said he believes that through the technology, not only will the process become more efficient, but services could also be expedited to the whole country, thereby promoting inclusive and comprehensive services.

FRISTA will be implemented in JKN on a national scale to ensure everyone can benefit from the innovation, Mukti said. BPJS, he added, is committed to providing the best services to the people.

He said he expects the measure to resolve the issue, which often hinders health services; promote a healthier Indonesia that can compete on the global level; and inspire other institutions to give their best in offering public services.
